Giving Back to Nature: Label Apeel’s partnership with Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust
Share
At Label Apeel, sustainability goes beyond materials, certifications and recyclable packaging. It’s also about taking responsibility for the environment around us and actively contributing to the communities and landscapes we rely on. Earlier this year, we proudly started a partnership with the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, supporting their work with a £3,000 donation towards local conservation initiatives and nature reserve projects across the region. But for us, the partnership was never just about financial support.
From Donation to Action
In May, the Label Apeel team stepped away from the office and joined a Wild Work Day at Ulverscroft Nature Reserve in Charnwood Forest. Working alongside the Wildlife Trust team, we helped remove Himalayan balsam - an invasive plant species that spreads aggressively through wetland habitats and damages native ecosystems.
We spent the day clearing affected areas by hand, learning more about local ecosystems and seeing first-hand the level of work involved in protecting these spaces for future generations. It was muddy, physical and genuinely rewarding.
The day gave us the opportunity to contribute to a real conservation project while spending time together outside of the usual working environment. It also gave the team a better understanding of the practical work involved in protecting and maintaining local green spaces.
Looking Ahead
For us, supporting organisations like Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust is about building long-term involvement within the local community and contributing to projects that have a visible impact over time. This Wild Work Day was the first of several planned throughout the year as part of our ongoing partnership with the Trust. It reflects how we want to operate as a business - supporting local initiatives, volunteering time, and getting involved in practical environmental projects where we can make a genuine contribution.
