Label Apeel

Label of the Month - March 2026

Some labels try to impress you. Evergreen doesn’t need to. This Highgrove and Cotswolds Distillery collaboration feels like it’s been part of the bar for years: quietly confident, beautifully resolved and hiding just enough detail to reward a closer look. It’s a neat demonstration of how personalised whisky labels can carry real character in a very controlled, balanced way.

First impression: Composed, not crowded

A premium coated paper gives the soft green its depth and keeps the smaller copy crisp, while a matt varnish takes the shine down so it reads cleanly in low, warm bar lighting and stands up to bottling, boxing and the occasional enthusiastic pour. A restrained use of foil on the crown and key type picks up those warmer highlights without tipping into full‑on sparkle, adding just enough flash to catch the eye as you move past the bottle on shelf. That construction works hand‑in‑hand with the softened arch shape and deep, estate‑green background, which do a lot of the early storytelling before you’ve read a word.

Materials and Finishes

This label sits on Sirio Pearl Ice paper paired with a glassine liner, giving enough rigidity for clean application while keeping the roll tight and efficient on press. The pearlescent base adds a gentle shimmer under light – just enough of a soft, glittery lift to keep the green from feeling flat, without distracting from the rest of the design. The hot foil crown and key lines are built into the print order so they sit sharp against the soft green, with embossing adding a subtle lift you notice as soon as you pick the bottle up. Embossing around the brand mark brings a little extra texture and gives it a soft, raised edge, and digital print allows the batch number to be handled as variable data without breaking the layout.

Final Thoughts

This label is a good example of how much work the right label spec can do for a whisky. The combination of confident artwork, carefully chosen materials and considered finishing gives this personalised whisky label a quiet richness that feels completely in step with the spirit inside.
