Some working relationships start and stop at the order number. Others grow over years of shared commitment, tight deadlines, and mutual trust.
Our relationship with Leicester-based Drivers Pickles is the second kind.
We’ve worked together long enough to know their jars, their pace, and their expectations inside out. And when they told us they needed a flawless, clear label that would still survive fast-paced machine application, the brief wasn’t new - but the standard needed to be higher than ever.
The Story Behind the Label
Drivers wanted that clean, modern transparency across their jars without losing the heritage and warmth behind the brand. A clear label sounds simple, but anyone in print knows it’s the exact opposite. Any dust, fibre, or micro-haze trapped under the adhesive kills the effect immediately. If the colours aren’t perfectly registered over white, the design drifts, softens, or bleeds. And on a curved glass jar, there is zero room for error.
This is where material choice does most of the heavy lifting.
The Material That Makes the Difference
We used Polyprop Clear Gloss (PP Clear) paired with a PET liner - not paper - for a reason. PET gives a dense, stable surface that releases cleanly, with none of the fibre-shedding you get from paper liners. That means:
-
No specks under the adhesive
-
No paper dust clinging to the edges
-
No unwanted texture imprinting
-
And crucially, a genuinely crisp clear label
The Print Challenge
Printed on our MPS conventional press, the build starts with a meticulous flood of white ink. That layer is what keeps the colours sharp and consistent once the label is applied to the jar. Every colour then lands on top of that white and this is where the job becomes unforgiving.
Those overlapping colours around fine lines were the toughest part. With almost no room for movement, even a hairline shift would show. But this precision is exactly what defines us. The same standard, every label, every order.
The Finish
To complete the job, the label is protected with Flint – Gloss Scuff Resist Release UV Flood. It keeps the surface clean, resists abrasion during filling and packing, and preserves that premium clarity right through to shelf life.
A Partnership That Works Both Ways
Drivers Pickles trust us to bring the same care and accuracy to every batch. In return, we get to support a heritage Leicester brand that never cuts corners. It’s a relationship built on loyalty and long-term consistency - the kind that makes the work better year after year.
